I finally got the budget I needed to buy myself an electric pressure cooker. I’ve been using my second-generation pressure cooker since ancient times and have been dreaming of a technological upgrade in my kitchen for years. Not only does electric pressure able to meet my multi tasking demands, but can also serve as the all-in-one equipment I needed.
The problem I encounter now is that, there are so many electric pressure cookers that arise in the market; I don’t know which one would be more preferable for the demands of my lifestyle and cooking needs. I am eyeing on these three products though.

Review: Instant Pot IP-DUO60 7-in-1 Programmable with Stainless Steel Cooking Pot and Exterior 6-Quart/1000 watt Latest 3rd Generation Technology
I was saving for another brand of electric pressure cooker for a long time till I found this on the market. This one truly caught my attention. Boasting a 7-in-one pressure-cooker, I’m very sure that I’ll be getting more than what I bargained for with this kitchen equipment. I needed a third generation model like this for my 21st century lifestyle.
It basically is stamped with UL and ULC-certified and is proven safe. There’s no questioning this US made product for its safety and energy efficient feature.
Being a 7 in one pressure cooker this is more than what I have bargained for. It may be pricey but the usage of this is worth it. It is a pressure cooker (low and high), a slow cooker, a rice cooker/porridge maker (congee maker as well), steamer, for sauté and browning, a warmer and a unique feature I have not seen advertised by other seller: a yogurt maker. Now I can include making yogurts for my family’s Sunday dinner.
The thing about this one is that it is so precise and exact. It is calibrated properly to be able to measure the exact amount of pressure you needed for pressure-cooking. Now this is an important feature for pressure-cooking in different altitudes.
The working pressure for High is 10.2-11.6 psi; low pressure is 5.8-7.2 psi; steam release pressure limit is at 15.22 psi; working temperature of this is at 115 degrees Celsius – 118 degrees Celsius. Slow cook functions from 0.5 to 20 hours at 88-99 degrees Celsius; although my mom and I don’t usually use the slow function for up to 20 hours, we’re trying to minimize our use of electricity by not plugging in electrical devices for more than 15 hours except for our refrigerator. The other measurements for sauté and yogurt are listed in the manual.
The manual is precise. It is easy to understand and is specified in details. It thoroughly explains the parts and the pieces. It serves also as a reference guide. Recipes are also included thus it also has a cookbook and a timetable chart. Other accessories include the stainless steel steam rack, condensation collector, rice paddle spoon, and measuring cup. I am hoping for more freebies but this is all good anyway.
Cleaning a pressure cooker is another chore that takes up our time. Thankfully, this one is not difficult to clean. Food doesn’t tend to stick in the inside of the pot. It is actually dishwasher safe. This one also preserves its good-looking appearance because of its fingerprint resistance feature.
- Proven safe and energy efficient
- Attractive, good packaging and gives a professional impression
- Multi- tasking capable equipment with more functions and features available
- The exterior part of the rim is prone to rusting
- Not advisable for beginners
This product may be a bit pricey than the other choices, but I strongly believe that the use is worth the spent for this.
Review: Cuisinart CPC-600AMZ 100-watt 6-Quart, Brushed Stainless and Matte Black
My mom bought this one and I got the privilege to be the first one to try this. It is good for first time users of electrical cooking gadget equipment with a very comprehendible digital display. It doesn’t show any complications in its push buttons. It only has basically the menu button, the time button, and the start or cancel button. At first glance I thought using this would be easier than my first time using a microwave oven.
The design gives me the impression of a good standard pressure cooker. The handles on the sides are short but pretty convenient and it certainly serves their purpose well. A larger handle is on the top for opening the lid safely. It doesn’t have a jiggle top for the pressure steam to be released. It looks like a rice cooker at first glance.
This one claims of having six purposes, or a 6-in-1 pressure cooker. These are cooking for low pressure, high pressure, sautéing, browning and keep warm. These are the basic, considerably the standard features one looks for in a pressure cooker. They didn’t emphasize that one can actually cook rice on this one (we did).
Although this is a simple kitchen gadget for pressure cooking, easy to use with, the exact amount of pressure measured by PSI is not indicated. It just specifies if it is low pressure or high pressure.
The safety feature of this device includes the following: Open and close lid safety device that doesn’t start the pressure cooking unless it is properly closed; pressure control device which automatically maintains the pressure during cooking; Pressure Limit valve that automatically release air/steam when there’s too much pressure that is over the preset temperature; anti-block cover that prevents the food from blocking the pressure limit valve; Pressure release device that enables the cooking pot to move up and down until the lid separates the sealing ring to release the air pressure; thermostat which shuts off the item if it is turned on and nothing is actually being cooked; thermal fuse that opens the circuit when pressure cooker reaches the limit temperature.
The Instruction manual has 5 pages, teaching you how to assemble the item, some safety measures to consider, the parts and features, cleaning instructions, trouble shooting and warranty coverage. It is also indicated that it is for household use only.
- Excellent for beginners, or first time users
- Very affordable
- Each separate parts can be purchased conveniently
- Doesn’t indicate the exact pressure you’re actually cooking with
- Not advisable to pressure cook some foods.
This item has always been the trust companion of the family when it comes to pressure cooking. It is safe and effective, and the affordable aspect is a bonus part. Being familiar about this product, it makes me want to label it as the best pressure cooker.
Review: Asian Style Gourmet Automatic, Stainless Steel Inner Pot Model BT900XL5
A trustworthy friend who knows her kitchen very well recommended me this and it’s on my list for quite some time now. At first I didn’t like the design of this, comparing it to my other preferred electronic pressure cooker. But then I realized this one is more comprehensive, easy to understand, a push the button and cook sort of thing. Even my daughter can actually use this. It basically has buttons for cooking rice 12 minutes, a one minute porridge, 25 minutes chicken and meat, 15 minutes congee, 20 minutes soup, 30 minutes for bean tendon and an extra button for setting 20-99 minutes of pressure cooking.
For one who has cooked beef stews, crispy potatoes, and pressure cooked fish fillets and more, this will take some time to think on which setting to press. Like me, I have used pressure cooker with settings of high or low that the secondary generation cooker offered. This one may come in challenging for me. I wondered how to set browning on this product or how to sauté with this. Good thing I have handled a second generation pressure cooker before.
Since my friend recommended this product I went immediately to check for reviews and more information about this. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get as much information as I could. I decided to visit my friend one time to secretly observe how this thing actually works. I thought I was the only one to notice that this thing doesn’t actually give out much steam. It is quieter than the second generation one that I used to have. No whistle, no jiggling. We usually do something else while waiting for this thing to do the cooking. We nearly forgot that we are cooking something because it is quiet. But because of the red, big and bold time indicator in the front of the pot, it made us aware of our cooking responsibilities.
The outer design is attractive, having a flatter top compared to the other pressure cooker tops. That can be another extra space saver. The inner pot has a level gauge which is important in measuring and monitoring amounts of liquid or balancing the amount of food to place and cook. Handles on the sides are cool and not affected by the temperature of the pot. An extra handle is on top for opening the lid of the pressure cooker. It has a vent on top to release steam.
It comes with a manual for instructions. Being a product manufactured in Asia (made in china), the instruction manual is brief and concise. This product comes with a stainless inner pot. I wish it could incorporate a cook book that goes along with the product.
- Excellent tool for multi tasking in cooking
- Practical and easy to use equipment
- Good for first timers and porridge lovers (soft food lovers)
- Safe and durable
- The foreign writings in the front might be distracting for some users
- Not advisable for people who are used to the 6 in one electronic pressure cooker
Although this cooker may come in new for some people, I would have to say that this is a use and discover to appreciate. My trusty friend did not regret purchasing this after all.
With all these three products that I am eyeing on, few factors are important for me to take consider in choosing the best electric pressure cooker. I want a good size that doesn’t take up too much space in my kitchen, which the Asian-style Gourmet Automatic Electronic offers; Easy to clean type which the Cuisinart CPC-600AMZ features.
A long lasting product because I am investing on this thing, I want it to be durable and heavy duty. I can rely on the long lasting guarantee of the Instant Pot IP-DUO607 and also for my last requirement: safe, efficient that the Instant Pot also guarantees. I think I have made my choice for the best among the rest.
